Experience:
FDI’s Healthcare Process Modeling experts have rich experience in many industries. Individually, they have a proven track record of delivering value to clients.  Nationally-recognized modeling experts David Ferrin and Martin Miller lead FDI’s simulation modeling team.  
           
David Ferrin, Practice Principal
David Ferrin is the former president and founder of Business Prototyping Inc.  He was previously an associate partner with Accenture’s Capability Modeling and Simulation practice in Northbrook, Illinois, where he served as the Lead of the America’s practice.

David was an assistant professor in the Health Systems Management department at Rush University, Chicago, Illinois, and was an adjunct professor in the Health Records Administration department at York College in York, Pennsylvania. 

He is a Senior Fellow and past chapter president of Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS).  He is also a senior member and past Chapter President of the Institute of Industrial Engineers (IIE). David has served on Winter Simulation Conference committees since 1997 and was the general chair 2003.  He is one of the most published and is a frequent speaker on simulation and quality in health care and 20+ years experience in those areas. 

David holds a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering from the University of Utah and a master’s degree in health administration from Brigham Young University.

Martin J. Miller, Senior Manager
Marty Miller previously was a senior manager for Business Prototyping Inc. Before that, he worked more than eight years for Accenture and was a manager for its Capability Modeling and Simulation practice. He also led the development and testing of software applications for the utilities industry.

Marty obtained his CMM certification from the Software Engineering Institute in 1997. He received his master’s degree in industrial and system engineering and a bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering from the University of Florida.
